Tis the Season!

Tis the season for gathering with friends and family. We have been busy! Here is what has been happening with us since Thanksgiving Day in Clay County.
Baker Thanksgiving
We gathered with the Baker family the Sunday after Thanksgiving at my Uncle Harley’s house. We had a great meal with all the trimmings. It was nice to be with family. The boys spent lots of time flipping through the newspaper advertisements showing everyone what they want for Christmas. It was nice outside, so the boys enjoyed playing with Pap, Uncle Jason, and my cousin John.

Jesse’s Birthday
Aunt Chris and Uncle Fred always put together a wonderful Birthday lunch for Uncle Jesse. This year Jackie brought a decadent chocolate peanut butter cake…. with Reese’s on top. Yum! Aunt Aprile (Jane) took perfect care of Maggie (Jane). She sat by her at lunch and dessert to help her eat. Maggie isn’t quite as loud as the other niece and nephews yet, so she has a special place with Aunt Aprile. Although she's quickly learning....

LG Christmas
Celebrating Christmas with the Life Group was extra special this year. As the children get older, this season just gets better and better. This year we gathered at Matt and Emily Coy’s house. We ate a delicious meal, made an ornament with the kids, changed in to Christmas P.J.’s, watched a kids Christmas movie, and had great adult conversation. I love to look at last year’s picture and this year’s. What a blessed year we’ve had! This year we added baby Eva, Lindsey, and Matthew. This is our fifth Christmas season as a life group. When we started there were only five children…. Now we have eleven! We get together every other weekend with our families. Us girls have accountability group every other Tuesday and the guys meet together every other Wednesday. I have received love, encouragement, support, and prayer from these great friends.

Happily Hitched Christmas Party
We hosted our Sunday School Christmas party this past Friday night. Families were invited too, so we had a house full. It was very laid back. We provided dessert. Everyone else brought an appetizer. The kids played downstairs by themselves all night. I love the basement! We were able to enjoy the night with the other adults. We had great conversations, and we ended the night laughing as we reminisced about our perfectly rolled, knotted, and pegged clothes in the 80’s. It was great to hear words like Swatch Watch, Eastland’s, and Guess!
For dessert, I had a chocolate fountain. The boys wanted to dip things in it all night, but I wouldn’t let them do it without help. I told them to wait until everyone left, and so they did! We took off their shirts and let them stand on chairs. They dipped fingers and even cupped a handful of chocolate. They enjoyed it!
